Les cinq cartes Rakdos Joins Up, Vraska Joins Up, Kellan Joins Up, Annie Joins Up et Tinybones Joins Up, de l'édition Outlaws of Thunder Junction et illustrées par Wylie Beckert, forment un cycle appelé "- Joins Up" d'enchantements légendaires correspondant au moment où les personnages Rakdos, the Muscle, Vraska, the Silencer, Kellan, the Kid, Annie Flash, the Veteran et Tinybones, the Pickpocket rejoignent la bande de Oko, the Ringleader (voir cette anecdote).

La carte Bonny Pall, Clearcutter fait référence à Paul Bunyan, bûcheron géant du folklore américain, accompagné d'après la légende d'un bœuf bleu nommé Babe (temp).
La carte Loan Shark fait référence à l'expression anglaise "loan shark" qui désigne un usurier aux méthodes souvent brutales et illégales, et qui a été reprise comme titre de films de genre récit policier.

Le nom de la carte This Town Ain't Big Enough fait référence à une réplique du film The Western Code, qui correspond à la première apparition de cette expression "This town ain't big enough for the both of us" dans la culture populaire.
Sur l'illustration de la carte Bruse Tarl, Roving Rancher, on peut voir de gauche à droite en passant par l'avant-plan, les bovidés Ox of Agonas, Pillarfield Ox et Vigor.

Le texte d'ambiance anglais de la carte Lavaspur Boots fait référence à la chanson de Nancy Sinatra : These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.
La carte Shoot the Sheriff, par son nom et son texte d'ambiance anglais mentionnant le "deputy", fait référence à la chanson de Bob Marley : I Shot the Sheriff.
Les illustrations des cartes Smuggler's Surprise et Reckless Reveler, la dernière dépeignant l'incendie d'une statue de cheval en bois, font référence au cheval de Troie.

One of my favorite nods to other planes. Imagine being the person who thought up the Akroan Horse on Theros, watching it succeed beyond your wildest dreams, traveling to Thunder Junction, and realizing you can pull the same trick again cuz no one here's seen it before XD

Le nom de la carte Miriam, Herd Whisperer est une référence au film L'Homme qui murmurait à l'oreille des chevaux ("The Horse Whisperer" en anglais, adaptation du roman homonyme), de et avec Robert Redford.
Le film évoque une méthode de rééducation et d'élevage des chevaux, représentée sur la carte par la capacité de donner la Défense talismanique aux montures.

La carte Creosote Heath fait probablement référence à l'arbre à créosote, très connu en Amérique du Nord et appelé ainsi à cause de son odeur, qui rappelle celle d'une huile de goudron, la créosote, plutôt que référence au goudron lui-même.
Plante emblématique du désert, le créosotier produit une toxine qui bloque la croissance des autres plantes environnantes, lui assurant de ne pas avoir à partager les rares ressources en eau disponibles.

Sometimes designers make cards that are references to beloved cards from Magic's past. When naming these cards, we usually try to play along and reference them there too. I have no idea if Intimidation Campaign will be the same fun the OG was, but I hope someone tries.
