Vampire Hexmage est surtout connu pour sa combo avec Dark Depths (et parfois Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth) pour poser une Marit Lage 20/20 vol indestructible.
Dark Depths est d'ailleurs bannie en Modern pour cette interaction-ci ainsi que celle avec Thespian's Stage.

Hexmage permet également de "vaincre" n'importe quelle "Bataille - Siege" en le sacrifiant.
Et Invasion of Alara :
- a l'un des voire le verso le plus puissant de toutes les Batailles de March of the Machine;
- et son ETB au recto peut potentiellement trouver et lancer Vampire Hexmage.
Invasion of Alara devient alors, à peu de choses près:
